In his 1991 Encyclical Letter, Centesimus annus, Pope John Paul II wrote “the social message of the gospel must not be considered a theory, but above all else a basis and a motivation for action.” What does this mean for us as Catholics today? How do we embrace Pope Saint John Paul II’s call to action? This presentation will look at the association of the seven basic themes of contemporary Catholic Social Teaching (CST) with Scripture, and how CST can help each of us discern our individual response to the call to Christian discipleship.
